Didcot Artist’s work selected by the Society of Botanical Artists

Local hyperrealist artist, Adrian Smart who lives in Didcot, was contacted by the Society of Botanical Artists on 18th March to say that following rigorous pre- and final selection processes by their judging panel, two of his artworks have been accepted into their Plantae 2025 showcase this year.

Marking their 40th Anniversary in 2025, the Society will be holding their annual Plantae exhibtion at the Mall Galleries in London from 10am on 28th May – 5pm on 7th June 2025. Artwork featuring botanical subjects including Adrian’s two paintings of blackberries and conkers, will be on public display.

Adrian is best known for his wildlife work, particularly birds and he said “I am delighted that my botanical work has been accepted into this exhibition as this is a new, exciting route that I have been exploring as an artist. The natural world has always been an important, integral part of my hyperrealist work, depicting animals in their habits, many of which are sadly now in decline which is something I am keen to highlight as I feel passionate about species conservation. I have enjoyed focusing my attention on the plants themselves and feel humbled that my work will be exhibited alongside some of the best botanical artists in the world at the Mall Galleries.”

Adrian’s work is also exhibited at the Plus One Gallery, London, by appointment only.
