In January 1946, Harwell began its journey as a scientific campus. To commemorate our 80th anniversary, we are organising The Light Project – a landmark series of public engagement events celebrating our long heritage of scientific excellence.
Step Inside the Body! Come and visit Harwell for the ultimate immersive light and science experience and get ready for an evening of mind-blowing science, exploring the human BODY like never before.
Journey through a series of spectacular “body zones”, from the beating heart and firing neurons to the eyes, lungs and cardiovascular system. Along the way you’ll encounter:
- a giant flaming heart;
- a light sculpture of firing neurons; and,
- a 10-ft steampunk olfactory scent gun.
Using light, fire and cutting-edge special effects, BODY invites you to see, hear and feel the body in extraordinary new ways.
BODY is suitable for all ages – a joyful, thought-provoking encounter that will change the way you see what it means to be human.
