April – A virtual Cafe Scientifique. A talk on ‘Repurposing old drugs against new targets: science’s flurry of activity against CoVid-19’ Dr Rachel Quarrell
21st April 2020 @ 10:04 pm
Tuesday 21st April 2020
Virtual Cafe Scientifique, 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Dr Rachel Quarrell, from Oxford Cafe Scientifique will be giving a talk on “Repurposing old drugs against new targets: science’s flurry of activity against CoVid-19”
Dr Rachel Quarrell trained as an organic chemist at the University of Oxford. She wrote one of the first UK doctorates on combinatorial chemistry before using those techniques in the field of medicinal enzyme chemistry and drug discovery with targets ranging from emphysema and malaria to HIV. She moved out of research more than a decade ago and now combines teaching organic chemistry to Oxford undergraduates with involvement in college admin and student welfare.
In 2000 she was invited to co-found the Oxford Café Scientifique, one of the earliest Cafés, with a post-doc colleague and has run it ever since.
If would you like further information on how to join this virtual meeting or to add your name to our mailing list, please email cafesci@didcotfirst.org
Thank you.
