Chair of Didcot First, David Pryor was a guest at the launch of the Didcot Powerhouse’s first Impact Report for 2022 at Milton Park on 2nd February, accompanied by his wife Fiona.
David was one of the speakers who highlighted his pride in Didcot and the role of Didcot First as a donor and supporter of The Didcot Powerhouse Fund. The Didcot Powerhouse Fund 2022 Impact Report can be viewed here.
Through a special presentation, Chair, Elizabeth Paris highlighted the impressive impact and outcomes that projects funded by Powerhouse grants have had in the local community in 2022. The theme was ‘Supporting children, young people and familes as we emerge from the pandemic’ . Elizabeth also highlighed that more volunteers are needed by community organisations to train up as the cost of living crisis has shortened the supply of new recruits. More donors are also needed by Powerhouse to enable it to extend its grant-giving capacity into 2023/24.
Others speakers at the event included MP for Didcot and Wantage, David Johnston, Philip Campbell, Commercial Director of MEPC Milton Park Ltd, Gary Hibbens, CEO of Abingdon Bridge and Richard Kennell, CEO of SOFEA.
Richard Kennell reached out to local businesses providing first jobs for young people, to offer SOFEA’s help in supporting and mentoring them in post. Any businesses interested in this pilot scheme can get in touch with SOFEA direct or via Powerhouse.
