On 15th October, Didcot Events celebrated their 30th anniversary of delivering community events in Didcot. The lunch was attended by 60 guests who were involved, past and present, including committee members, stallholders, entertainers, security representatives and sponsors. Former Chamber of Commerce members and Didcot Town Councillors were also in attendance.
Three decades of hosting events for Didcot community and businesses include a staggering 26 Didcot Christmas Street Fairs, 3 Festive Markets, 20 Gift & Craft Fairs, 7 Food Festivals and involvement in organising Didcot Fireworks, Summer Fun on the Broadway, a Leisure and Pleasure show and regular weekend markets. All events were to help fundraise for the annual Christmas Street Fair spectacular.
Jeanette Howse, Chairman of Didcot Events for 30 years gave an overview of the kaleidoscope of colourful events that had taken place, sharing amusing stories and special moments for herself and others in the room who participated. Guests were able to catch up with old friends and relate their own personal stories of volunteering their support.
Never to miss a fundraising opportunity, guests raised £700 with a raffle, with a cheque presented to Anna Gatrell who organises a Christmas Day Lunch in Didcot every year for people who would otherwise be alone on that day.
The 30-year celebratory lunch was held at the Barn in Didcot and Colin Gilbey who owned Broadway Butchers in Didcot for 30 years catered lunch for the guests.
