Students and staff at Aureus School in Didcot were celebrating the school’s best-ever GCSE results, excelling across all subjects, including English, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Performing Arts, Dance and Art.
The Class of 2024 set new records at Aureus, which is a member of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust. An impressive 61 grades were awarded at the highest levels of 9 and 8, with 34 per cent of all grades between 9 and 7, and 51 per cent between 9 and 4, with particular progress made in Maths and Science.
Headteacher Kirsty Rogers, who joined the school in September 2023, said she was proud of all Aureus’ students, who have made fantastic progress, and enjoyed celebrating with them as they now prepare for their next ventures, accessing sixth form, colleges and apprenticeships of their choice.
She continued: “This year’s results are a testament to the hard work and dedication the students have put in every day.
“The school has been through significant change this academic year and I couldn’t be prouder of how this cohort has risen to the challenge. The progress they have made this year is extraordinary.”
In addition to the amazing progress those students made, the school was also celebrating the students who attained seven or more grade 9-7
These included Josh A with five 9s, five 8s, and one 7; Archit R with two 9s, seven 8s, and one 7; Stanley MR with three 9s, two 8s, three 7s, one Merit, and one 6; Lorenz J with two 9s, eight 8s, and one Distinction; Natalie T with two 8s, five 7s, and three 6s; and Ashton D who received three 8s, five 7s, and one 5.
Aureus School has undergone significant transformation, with a renewed focus on the core values of Ambition, Resilience, and Respect. Kirsty Rogers prides herself in having high standards for all students and has worked tirelessly to implement this vision.
The school has introduced rigorous systems and structures ensuring that learning and personal development are paramount to maximise students’ learning and progress.
