Speaker Dr Jane Sellwood, Talk on – BIRD FLU, MAN FLU, SEASONAL FLU – is Covid now a ‘flu’?

The Influenza viruses are major health hazards to both humans and animals.  Much studied but not yet fully controlled, these viruses can cause a wide range of illnesses.  This talk will describe the current global picture of flu infections and how we can combat them – or not.

Can the range of symptoms that is ‘Covid’ now be seen as a ‘flu’?

Dr Jane Sellwood is a retired Clinical Scientist, previously employed by the Health Protection Agency (now called UK Health Security Agency) and was based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.  She was consultant Clinical Virologist for the diagnostic virology laboratory and also led research in the national Water Virology Unit.  During the last few years she has taken a renewed interest in viral respiratory diseases and river water quality.
