Pain and the opioid crisis – a community pharmacist perspective
Rosie Adsley gives us an overview of the current treatment of pain and will also look at how the opioid crisis developed in the US and the current situation in the UK
Rosie Adsley qualified as a pharmacist in 2008 and completed her PhD entitled ‘Visualisation of the cellular uptake of nanoparticles’ at the Laboratory of Biophysics and Surface Analysis at the University of Nottingham. Following this Rosie worked in community pharmacy for 5 years where she became involved in the provision of a palliative care syringe driver service which sparked an interest in the treatment of pain. In 2017 Rosie began working as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice at De Montfort University in Leicester.
