June – The Evolving Universe (rescheduled from January 2019)
18th June 2019 @ 10:52 pm
The Evolving Universe – Professor Robert Lambourne
This Cafe Scientifique examines our current view of the nature of the physical Universe, and the evolutionary process that enabled it to emerge from the hot, dense conditions of the Big Bang.
The speaker, Professor Emeritus Robert Lambourne, directs the public programme in physical science for the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education and was, until his recent retirement, Professor of Educational Physics at the Open University. A former Vice-President of the Institute of Physics, and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, Professor Lambourne’s books include An Introduction to Galaxies and Cosmology (with Mark Jones and Stephen Serjeant) and Relativity, Gravitation and Cosmology both published by Cambridge University Press.
This month’s Café Scientifique will be held in the Auditorium at Cornerstone.
Tickets (Adults £2/Under 18s free) are available at the Cornerstone box office, on the Cornerstone website (https://www.cornerstone-arts.org) and in person on the night.
