SpecialEffect: Using Technology for Fun and Freedom
16th October 2018 @ 9:05 am
SpecialEffect is an Oxfordshire-based charity that puts fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games and access other forms of leisure technology. By using solutions ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, they create personalised set-ups that enable people to actively take-part to the very best of their abilities. In this session, events coordinator Tom Donegan will give an overview of the charity and it’s work, as well as introducing some of the exciting technologies they use to create a life-changing impact every day. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try some of these systems out for themselves! For more see: https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/
Tom Donegan is an experienced events manager, who has worked for a wide variety of non-profit organisations and charities in Ireland and the UK. Having originally volunteered and fundraised for SpecialEffect since it was founded in 2007, he joined the team as a full-time staff member in 2015.
