Performing Arts on Centre Stage

March 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A vibrant mix of performing arts will take to the stage when students from Aureus School present a showcase of talent next month.

The Creative and Expressive Arts Showcase will celebrate the hard work and imagination of the students, who have all been working hard ahead of the show on Friday, March 13 at Didcot’s Cornerstone Arts Centre venue. “Students have been rehearsing with real commitment, pushing their skills and supporting one another as they prepare for the stage. A professional setting is a significant milestone for them and it builds confidence, raises expectations and gives them a genuine  sense of what it means to present their work to a wider audience,” said Amy King, Head of Creative and Expressive Arts. It’s the sixth annual show hosted at the arts centre in the town for Aureus School, a member of the GLF Schools Multi Academy Trust. This year  there have also been workshops with the Step in TIme School of Performing Arts which have had a real impact on students’ confidence, technique and musically. The evening, for years 7 to 11 in groups or solo, will begin with a performance by former student Maddie Grisbrooke who has started her own dance classes and heads ML7 – and will open the show. “Their tutor, Grace Clarke, brings a warm, encouraging approach that helps students push themselves while still enjoying the process. They also run classes at Aureus School, so it has been fantastic to strengthen that connection and work more closely with their community of performers,” added Miss King. “Every student, regardless of their background or previous experience in the arts, should be encouraged to participate.” The show will see a variety of genres, from street tap to contemporary and jazz but the details of the school’s next production is being kept under wraps until the summer term – and speculation is already running rife.
